The Editor

A mythical destination with a thousand facets, Greece charms not only with the wealth of its history but also with the beauty of its landscapes. Whether you’re a fan of lounging, an archaeology enthusiast, or in search of authenticity, every corner of the country holds its share of surprises. Here’s a roundup of the places that have made our hearts race (and where we highly recommend you go).

Rhodes

The capital of the Dodecanese islands and the fourth largest island in Greece (after Crete, Evia, and Lesvos), Rhodes remains a top destination in the country. And for good reason: this Mediterranean gem preserves its medieval heritage while blending with its traditional Greek architecture and stunning natural landscapes. From its gorgeous beaches lined with pines and mountains to the high-perched villages offering a breathtaking view of the Mediterranean, not to mention the archaeological sites that continue to attract island hoppers... Rhodes is definitely worth a visit! You'll be charmed by its fame! You can especially visit its medieval city – one of the best-preserved in Europe, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site – where the Order of Saint John once reigned. Or you can check out the delightful archaeological site of Lindos, known for its acropolis that offers a breathtaking panoramic view, along with gorgeous vineyards that maintain their old traditions from ancient times, all while savoring the local cuisine with its many influences.

Chania

In Chania, Cretan charm meets natural beauty, in a city where different civilizations have crossed paths over the centuries. A must-see during your stay on the island of Crete, featuring a splendid array of historic monuments to discover. You can visit the ancient theater of Aptera and its archaeological site, 17th-century monasteries, and above all, get lost in the maze-like streets of the city center and the beautiful Venetian houses. A friendly tip? Take a little exploration around Lake Kournas and its turquoise waters, as well as the world-renowned Balos beach, where you'll find an abundance of crushed pink shells and fine white sand, with shallow turquoise waters (perfect for kids and families), and finally, Elafonisi beach with its pure waters, a natural reserve.

Kalamata

You've probably heard of the olives that bear its name, but guess what? The landscapes of Kalamata are just as captivating! In the heart of the Peloponnese, its old town with its cobblestone streets and traditional cafés exudes that charming Greek vibe. You'll want to take a trip to the Archaeological Museum of Messene, which whisks you back to ancient times, from the Bronze Age to the Byzantine period. And for those who want to soak up some sights (and history too), why not enjoy a trip to Koroni and Methoni – where the castles are the finest examples of Venetian fortresses in the country – and go for a hike to discover the ancient watermills along the Minagiotiko stream?

Santorini

It's one of the most famous Greek islands in the world, and it's easy to see why. In the heart of the Cyclades, Santorini promises lovely sunny afternoons overlooking its famous caldera, where you can enjoy local dishes, cocktails, and coffee while admiring the natural beauty of the still-active volcano. A postcard-perfect landscape, easily recognizable by its beautiful white buildings with blue domes, and it certainly attracts the crowds. Nevertheless, it remains a must-see in Greece, especially for its archaeological site of Akrotiri, its beaches with multiple shades of color, and its wine with volcanic notes

The old town of Corfu, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site, mixes historic architecture with local traditions, featuring squares, fortresses, and typically Venetian buildings. You can stroll through its small streets where laundry flutters in the wind, cross lovely shaded squares, and explore the neighborhoods of Mandouki, Garitsa, Saroko… And you can mingle with the locals at Spianada Square, where cricket matches and live concerts take place one after another. This little gem is filled with white sandy beaches, sea turtles, and a vibrant nightlife. Zakynthos is undoubtedly one of the most heavenly islands in Greece. People come to relax in the serene hidden alcoves, to take in the breathtaking views from the cliffs, to explore the city’s museums, to stroll along the impressive shopping streets with their stunning arcades, and of course, to enjoy the local life in the island’s charming cafes, bars, and restaurants. Athens

How can we talk about Greece without mentioning its capital? Athens, a historic city in Europe, the birthplace of democracy, arts, sciences, and the philosophy of Western civilization... Strolled through by Plato, Socrates, and Sophocles... It's one of the oldest cities, with its history echoing in every street corner today. Visiting Athens means you're bound to fall in love with it. Its half-ancient, half-modern universe sweeps you into a vibrant lifestyle, offering a treasure trove of archaeological sites to explore, a majestic Parthenon standing tall, and a local vibe that captivates, hopping from terrace to terrace, shop to shop, with a modern and dynamic cultural, artistic, and gastronomic scene just waiting to be discovered!

Araxos

Last little gem to discover urgently: Araxos, in the northwest of the Peloponnese. Far from the hustle and bustle of big cities and super touristy spots, this peaceful little village is surrounded by stunning, unspoiled natural landscapes, with lagoons, pine forests, and long sandy beaches. Here you can find the Kotychi-Strofylia National Park (great for amazing hikes), the limestone hills of Mavra Vouna, known as the "black mountains" which offer breathtaking views, as well as the Wall of the Dymaeans, remnants of ancient acropolises that testify to the region's rich history.
