The spookiest celebration of the year is just a few weeks away. Maybe it's the perfect time to plan a little getaway abroad, to a destination that celebrates chills, terrifying legends, and Halloween traditions in style. 

Halloween is fast approaching and it's the only time of year when we allow ourselves one or two evenings of spine-tingling thrills like no other. Lastminute looked into it and found that this particular week, travel searches are up 7.7% — proof that travelers aren't against a little getaway with a hint of fright. But really, what are the best destinations, not far from Paris, to spend this celebration? Here are six that will undoubtedly give you the best sensations.


The most haunted destinations for Halloween

Prague

It's not scary places that are lacking in Prague. Between its narrow streets, its gothic buildings

and its many castles, it's the ideal place to spend Halloween and give yourself a good scare. Head especially to the Houska Castle or Kokorín Castle, not far from there, which are renowned for their scary myths and legends. 


Edinburgh

Jump on a plane and, 1 hour 45 minutes later, here we are in Edinburgh, one of the top destinations to celebrate Halloween. On October 31st, you'll find the Samhuinn Fire Festival, honoring the Celtic tradition of Samhain. It's also the perfect time to visit Greyfriars Kirkyard, a cemetery renowned for being haunted, or to explore the history-rich catacombs.

Belfast

During Halloween season, Belfast comes alive in a truly unique way. Between pumpkin picking, city decorations… Thrills are everywhere you turn. For instance, you can enjoy nighttime visits to Friar's Bush Cemetery, as well as witch-themed excursions or an immersive experience in a well-known Victorian prison in the region.

Seville

When we think of Halloween, Seville isn't necessarily the first place that springs to mind. Yet this charming city in southern Spain offers, between October 23rd and November 2nd, the Festival of las Ánimas complete with shows, guided tours, and ghostly tales. The entire city is wrapped in a gripping gothic atmosphere.
