Espace Gohan

Espace Japon recently opened its restaurant, designed as a natural extension of its mission: to share and promote Japanese culture… through taste. Mi-cantine, mi-tea room, mi-izakaya, here you can enjoy the flavors of Japan.

It's celebrated in every possible way, always with a warm, sweet, and discreet welcome. At lunchtime, chef Utaco OKUNO serves up simple and joyful platters. On the menu: miso-cooked fish, simmered vegetables, fluffy rice, and comforting miso soup. It's home-style cooking, offered in a set menu for just 14 € (vegetarian or with fish or meat), which you can enhance with a dessert and a drink for just a few euros more. As the evening arrives, the place reveals its true nature: that of an izakaya, those bistros that line the streets of the Kingdom of Haikus. In the kitchen, chef Satoko ONARU prepares delicate small plates perfect for sharing. Edamame with lime and shio-koji, crispy fries with aonori, semi-raw mackerel with rice vinegar, a reimagined potato salad, scallops with tosazu jelly (Japanese vinegar), leeks and oyster mushrooms with miso, karaage like you’ve never tasted before… each bite is an ode to the archipelago.

We all want to tantalize our taste buds. That's exactly what Japanese chef Yasuo Nanaumi offers with his dishes that bring together the best of French and Japanese cuisines. And if it were just the visuals! Homemade noodles, delicious broth, top-notch meat (and fish too)—it's no wonder that even Japanese food critics flock to this restaurant!
