An inspiring and inspiring journey
The adventure begins when the duo of friends, Guillaume Sanchez, a star chef, and Brice Portolano, a photographer, arrive on the small Scottish island of Islay.
On board a van and armed with a map of the island, they set out in search of the 22 wild and local plants that make up The Botanist gin, created on-site by the nonconformist and authentic Bruichladdich distillery. "It was fascinating to see how the time of year has a real impact on the taste of a plant. From one day to the next, it goes from a mundane flavor to something extraordinary! There is a true seasonality," says the star chef. Their journey ends at the Bruichladdich distillery, known for its nonconformity and where The Botanist gin is produced. It is there that Adam Hannett, master distiller, shared all of his secrets with them.
A Gastronomic Menu
Extraordinary gastronomyWith this meeting of enthusiasts and this incredible expedition, the former Top Chef contestant imagines an ephemeral gastronomic menu composed of 10 herbaceous and iodized dishes. It's an opportunity to experience a wonderful culinary adventure through the unique flavors that make up The Botanist, all accompanied by a cocktail imagined by talented mixologist Margot Anna Lecarpentier. To help him in his creation, the cocktail artist met with Valentine Diguet - an expert botanist - in the Saint-Cloud forest and gave birth to a cocktail based on The Botanist gin and freshly picked plants that will enhance the dinner.
