The Editor

Since January 12th, and until March 26th, the Roi René theater presents the play GEEK (aka "Génération Etonnante d'Emotions Kontradictoires"). Written by Maxime Minault (also an actor) and directed by Renato Ribeiro, this 1 hour and 20 minutes comedy breaks theater conventions and uses video games as a guiding thread. GEEK: It's up to the audience to choose the plot! By voting for one of the proposed answers to questions displayed on a giant screen, the audience becomes an integral part of the ongoing storyline. Spectators intervene and find themselves at the heart of the action. Numerous twists and turns, to be very precise, 19,683 to be exact, become possible. Maxime Minault, author of GEEK, confides, "the more the audience reacts, the more the play gains momentum." However, the actors leave no room for improvisation. All combinations have been worked out in advance.

Between Laughter and Emotions, Reality and Imagination

3 main roles are played alternatively: Lucie (by Louise Cassin or Anne-Cécile Quivogne) - Mathieu (by Romain Pirosa or Grégoire Gougeon) and Ernest (by Maxime Minault or Loïc Lacoua). The scenario is very simple, but devilishly effective and evocative: Two boys, one girl. Mathieu, Ernest, Lucie.

For a year now, childhood friends Mathieu and Ernest have been living together. Ernest is barely recovering from a breakup and Mathieu loves Lucie, who loves Mathieu. So far, so good... until Lucie naturally decides to move in with her lover too. This is how the famous trio ends up living under the same roof. But the cohabitation may not be as smooth as anticipated, and their lives will be turned upside down in ways they never imagined. Will they be able to maintain their friendships and navigate the complexities of love and living together? Only time will tell.

Habitation is not so simple... So several solutions are available to the protagonists. Which one will be the right one? It is up to the audience to decide... With geek popular culture as a common thread, the comedy invites us to let go of our smartphones or controllers for a few moments. Funny, intergenerational, and downright irresistible, it can be found every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7pm and Sundays at 4pm at the Théâtre du Roi René (Parmentier stop). GEEK From January 12th to March 26th, 2023 Théâtre du Roi René 12 Rue Édouard-Lockroy, 75011 Paris For all the information, click here.
