« We are two twin sisters, born under the sign of Gemini », sing Delphine and Solange, played by Catherine Deneuve and Françoise Dorléac in The Young Girls of Rochefort in 1967. A song by Michel Legrand, that has become as iconic as the feature film by Jacques Demy, of which it is a part. And just like that, 53 years after its release, this French musical is coming back to life and will grace the stage at the Lido next October.

A production that should be true to the film

While the casting has not yet been announced, one thing is for sure: Lido never disappoints us! This new production by Jean-Luc Choplin — also known for the Umbrellas of Cherbourg at the Théâtre du Châtelet and Donkey Skin at the Théâtre Marigny — promises to be incredibly faithful to the original film, much to our delight. Under the direction of Gilles Rico and a set design envisioned by Bruno de Lavenère, we will follow Delphine and Solange, two twins living in Rochefort, who dream of moving to the capital to make their dreams come true: one wants to become a dancer, and the other a composer.

Musical performances in their original version at the Lido

Since its reopening in December 2022, the former Lido cabaret, transformed into performance halls, has continuously brought amazing performances one more grand than the other. More focused on musicals in their original version, the venue kicked off with the must-see from Broadway: Cabaret. Following that, we enjoyed A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, , and Titanique, a grand parody of the famous film of the same name, is on stage until June 25th!
