Good decisions today, a positive impact tomorrow
We love living by its side, going on vacation close to it, enjoying a swim from time to time… The Mediterranean is one of those turquoise jewels that we cherish. It is also home to over 17,000 marine species, with an incredible richness of fauna and flora that we must preserve at all costs, despite the ecological upheavals we are experiencing.
With Mediterranean 2050, the Oceanographic Museum invites you to travel into the future, to the year 2050, at the heart of of a Marine Protected Area (MPA) where life is thriving and species are abundant. All of this thanks to one thing: good decisions made today.

Four Thematic and Immersive Spaces
Spanning over 1,000 m2, the exhibition is divided into four thematic spaces. The grand journey begins in the lounge " OceanoMania ", where an impressive sperm whale sculpture, standing 4 meters tall, welcomes visitors. Thanks to an immersive projection of information, they can discover the evolution of the Mediterranean over the past 35 million years. Next, we move to " Oceano Monaco ", which explores the period from 1885 to the present day, highlighting the commitment of the princes of Monaco towards the preservation of seas and oceans, as well as the challenges to tackle and the concrete solutions put in place to address them.

« Oceano Odyssey » takes you straight to 2050! In this 310 square meter space, you’ll be immersed in the ocean depths, guided by cetaceans and other sea creatures, thanks to immersive projections and cutting-edge technology. The adventure wraps up with « My Oceano Med », where visitors are invited to take action by expressing their voices. The impact of each person's choices is projected in real-time, showcasing the importance of collective action when paired with public engagement. The web app lets you join in on the action!
My OCEANO Med, sharing the name of the room, invites visitors to extend the experience and commitment to the Ocean beyond the walls of the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco. And will you be able to meet the challenges and evolve your own Marine Protected Area?An exhibition that is as immersive as it is educational, prompting reflection, changing our perspective on the world, and inspiring us to do everything we can to contribute to the protection of the Mediterranean.
