An extraordinary journey full of light
For this very first edition in Montpellier, the Château de Flaugergues and 1001 Lumières have prepared a magical spectacle for you, featuring immense silk sculptures spread throughout the park. As night falls, the imagination comes to life in the glow of fairy lanterns. Each lantern tells a story...
It's a story where each light represents an emotion, filled with Northern lights, pandas, dragons, and savanna animals. In total, 40 artisans worked for months to bring each of the light sculptures to life. The result? We get to enjoy a dazzling spectacle made up of 8 kilometers of silk, 26 tons of metal, and 25,000 low-energy LED bulbs, with nearly 8 different trades involved in the assembly including metalworkers, welders, painters, seamstresses, sculptors, electricians, and carpenters!
An exhibition as magical as it is playful
More than 500 sculptures of animals, silk flowers, and fantastic creatures have been erected to offer us a magical moment. From the Egyptian snake that bites its tail (an emblem of the world and the perpetual renewal of nature) to the sacred elephants of India, and including chimerical creatures like dragons and unicorns, all worlds are represented!
But this luminous exhibition also aims to . To do this, L'Odyssée Lumineuse showcases through its lanterns a multitude of endangered animals, such as the Malayan tapir, the Mandrill monkey, tigers, the Galapagos giant tortoise, polar bears, orangutans, seahorses, whale sharks, and even pandas.
