What if we told you that to travel back more than 66 million years, all you had to do was visit an underwater base by passing through the doors of the Bassins des Lumières? Thanks to Planet Prehistory: Dinosaurs, the institution — in partnership with London studio Lightroom and Apple TV — unveils a completely wild immersive experience, blending Jurassic Park-like images with captivating and educational storytelling.

Majestic Creatures

On the walls, amid a desert landscape, a herd of enormous creatures appears. In the blink of an eye, we've gone from an ordinary Bordeaux day to a Dreadnoughtus mating display, right in the Cretaceous. Within minutes, the tone is set, and the images that follow one another inside the Bassins des Lumières are breathtaking. As you journey through time,

the species follow one another, revealing their secrets and mysteries in turn.

From ocean depths to the volcanoes of the Deccan (present-day India) and through forests and plains, different types of dinosaurs reveal themselves one after another, to shed light on their birth, their hunting habits, and their relationships with other animals. From the terrifying T-Rex to the majestic Tricatops, from the gigantic Mosasaur to the tiny Velociraptor, the lifelike images transport us into this extraordinary world.

But be warned, here it's not just about being dazzled, it's about learning more about these varied species, understanding the connections that bind us to them. For this, a narrative passionately told by Gérard Lanvin allows us to travel through time to discover more about the genetics of these animals, their representations throughout the ages, and their connections with the species we know today. An educational and scientific approach designed for young and old alike.

In this unique space that is the Bassins des Lumières, we find ourselves completely immersed facing some of the greatest creatures that earth has ever carried, for a moment far removed from our current times. And as always here, everything is carried along by an incredible soundtrack blending Hans Zimmer, Anže Rozman and Kara Talve. A unique way to explore the past, and to treat yourself to a little dose of magic for the holidays.
