With over 120,000 students, Toulouse stands out as one of France's major student cities. Between great deals, financial aid, culture, and events, the City pulls out all the stops to support 15- to 29-year-olds.

Is Toulouse the best city in France for young people? This editor, who has wandered its streets, tested its terraces and explored the university lecture halls, will tell you: yes, absolutely. But concretely, what makes the Pink City such a pleasant playground for young people?

Every year, more than 120,000 students choose to spend time in Toulouse, which ranks among the main university cities in France. And so that life in Toulouse doesn't come down to evenings on the Daurade waterfront and coffee breaks between classes, Toulouse City Council and its partners offer throughout the year services, support, programs and events designed to promote young people's independence, success and fulfillment.


A warm welcome for the new school year

First step to feeling at home: nailing your arrival. After organizing its traditional Back-to-School Guinguette party in early September, bringing together nearly 300 young people and students at

Castelet, Toulouse's City Hall and its partners are multiplying opportunities to make it easier for young people and students to settle in and integrate into the Pink City. The idea? Discover Toulouse, its services, its heritage, and also meet people while taking advantage of the many local opportunities. And the program is pretty enticing.

For international students, the World Students' Night, organized in Place du Capitole on October 13, officially kicks off the festivities. From October 12 to 25, students can also enjoy free entry to partner museums and monuments to discover Toulouse's heritage. Then it's time for meetings and sharing with The World at My Table, at the Abattoirs Museum on November 24, before lacing up your skates for the Ice Breaker Evening, at Alex Jany ice rink, on December 9.


A helping hand to ease daily life

Because student life comes with a price tag, Toulouse also offers a whole range of programs for 15-29 year-olds. On the housing front, the Instal'toof program lets you get a zero-interest loan of up to €500 to finance your first setup. The Housing Solidarity Fund can also help cover, subject to income conditions, agency fees

and deposits. When it comes to transportation and getting around without blowing your budget, special youth and student rates, especially for scholarship students, are offered by the Tisseo transport network and the city's bike-sharing agency.

Same logic for leisure activities: young people enjoy reduced rates at swimming pools and ice rinks, so you can keep having fun without draining your bank account. And if tough times hit, the Youth Aid Fund can also provide financial support to young people facing difficulties.


Culture, commitment, and a few smart habits

In Toulouse, student life certainly doesn't end when you leave the lecture hall. Throughout the year, the City offers cultural programming that's accessible to young people and students, with dedicated events in particular as part of the Student Seasons of the Comue (Community of Universities and Institutions). Municipal museums are on board too, because in addition to attractive rates for young people, twice a year, in March and October, students can enjoy two weeks of free entry to discover the cultural institutions of the Pink City.

And for those who want to get involved, several programs make it possible to participate in local life. The Toulouse Youth Council and Toulouse Student Life Council offer spaces to speak up and take part in city projects. The Town Hall provides financial support to youth and student associations

s, including key prevention programs like Fêtons + Risquons, dedicated to harm reduction at festivals, Action Suricate, focused on mental health, and Pause Lama, devoted to addiction support.

In short, in Toulouse, life is good when you're young. With help for getting settled, preferential rates, culture, social connections and opportunities to get involved, the Pink City puts a whole range of resources at the disposal of 15-29 year-olds to support them in their daily lives and their projects.
