When you say sports in Toulouse, you immediately think of rugby, right? That makes sense, as Stade Toulousain is a real institution. But this sweet fourth place in the national rankings (not too shabby!) isn’t just about scrums. Toulouse also shines in handball, volleyball, and soccer. We're talking about five clubs competing in the top division, both men and women!

To establish this ranking, L’Équipe based it on the number of clubs competing in the top division of the five major team sports (soccer, rugby, basketball, handball, and volleyball), for both men and women. As a bonus, they also counted teams in men's D2 for football and rugby. The result: Toulouse boasts five clubs performing at a high level, like TFC in Ligue 1, Fenix Handball, and the Spacer’s in volleyball. Not bad for a "small" city in the South-West, right?
The Pink City on Top
So yes, we are proud, but we still stand behind our neighbor Montpellier (6 clubs) and, of course, Paris, which is scoring big with 8 clubs in the top division. No worries, we prefer the warmth of our stands and the scent of the plane trees to the concrete atmosphere of the capital. And then... s, don't underestimate the ability of the people from Toulouse to go above and beyond. We already have Léon Marchand, a swimming prodigy, and Antoine Dupont, a rugby demigod, so let's not get too ahead of ourselves tomorrow, huh!
