Covered in five meters of brambles for years, the site was far from being a sports field and looked more like an eyesore in the Toulouse landscape. Since June 24th, the neighborhood of Saint-Martin-du-Touch can finally turn the page: five abandoned tennis courts have transformed into a brand-new park, featuring a plant maze, climbing wall, and basketball court.
An eyesore turned playground
Located in the Touch riverbank park, in the west of Toulouse, the area had been neglected for several years, resembling more of a jungle than a public space. The renovations, initiated in September 2025 as part of the redevelopment of the ZAC Saint-Martin-du-Touch, cleared away the brambles (along with the site's bad reputation at the same time).
Five Courts, Five New Lives
Each former tennis court has been reinvented for a very different purpose. The result is a new park that includes:
- a plant maze with playgrounds for kids;
- a leisure area with pétanque courts and relaxation zones; a sports heart equipped with dance bars and wall bars;
- a renovated tennis court;
- a 3-on-3 basketball court.
Two climbing blocks complete the picture, and the pathways have been secured to make the site accessible to everyone. Turning a wasteland into a multigenerational playground!
