Starting Monday, August 4, and until Tuesday, the 26th inclusive, the Compans-Caffarelli station will temporarily take a bow to make way for a significant project: the replacement of its escalators. If this rings a bell, it’s totally normal: after La Vache, this is the second station on line B to undergo this mechanical makeover. Specifically, for three weeks, travelers will need to adjust their routes and navigate the alternative options provided.

Modified routes, but Tisséo has (almost) everything covered

During the closure, the bus line 63 terminus will be moved to Canal du Midi, which is about a 7-minute walk from Compans-Caffarelli. For those who want to make their way to Jeanne d’Arc, it will take about 13 minutes on foot. However, there will be no changes for lines L1, L14, 45, and the airport shuttle. Tisséo invites…gently encourages its users to use its website or app to plan their journey. In other words: get your sneakers or your bike ready, as it might get crowded on the sidewalks.

Construction that will drag on until at least the fall

Even though the station will reopen on August 26, not everything will be finished by then. The new escalators still need to be installed and then tested for two weeks. In short: the work will stretch into October. This operation is part of a larger plan to replace the escalators throughout line B, which started in 2020 and is expected to continue until 2026. According to Tisséo, this step-by-step renovation aims to improve the comfort and safety of travelers while minimizing inconveniences. In theory, it sounds great. In practice, though, patience... and some strong calves will be required.
