It's one of the wonders of the Occitanie region that has won the title of the favorite hiking trail of the French: ladies and gentlemen, the Pic Saint-Loup!

The French Hiking Federation has launched its 4th edition of "my favorite GR path", allowing hikers to choose their favorite long-distance hiking trail. The votes were open from November 5th to 25th and the FFF recorded a record participation of nearly 100,000 votes. Eight long-distance hiking trails were competing for this title and presented through eight identity cards in videos on the website MonGR.fr (we recommend you to visit to get some hiking ideas for the months ahead).

As a result, with a total of 21.5% of the 93,000 votes from all French departments, the GR de Pays Grand Pic Saint-Loup succeeds the GR tour du piton des Neiges in La Réunion, which won the title in 2019. Anne-Marie Gresle, president of FFRandonnée Hérault, celebrates this "collective victory that was built thanks to the support of local partners, but also thanks to a well-constructed route around four loops, each with a theme and offering landscapes as varied as they are fascinating." She adds that Hérault is now "recognized as a place for hiking" and will be delighted to "welcome us on its trails while introducing us to its way of life! Thank you"Thank you to everyone who voted for this GR ».

  1. GR de Pays Grand Pic Saint-Loup (Hérault) : 20,602 votes - 21.5%
  2. GR de Pays Tour des Baronnies Provençales (Drôme) : 16,308 votes* - 17%
  3. GR 58 - Tour du Queyras (Hautes-Alpes) : 16,260 votes - 16.9%  
  4. GR 509 - Grande Traversée du Jura (Jura) : 15,986 votes - 16.7%
  5. GR 30 - Tour des lacs d'Auvergne (Puy-de-Dôme) : 13,097 votes - 13.7%
  6. GR 3 - La Loire sauvage à pied (Loire-Atlantique) : 6,915 votes - 7.2%
  7. GR 75 - Les Portes de Paris (Paris) : 3,737 votes - 3.9%
  8. GR 145 - Via.Francigena (Aisne): 3,078 votes - 3.2%
