8 centuries of history as a backdrop
In the heart of Black Périgord, the Château de Castelnaud invites visitors to travel back in time. It's hard to imagine a more perfect setting. Built in the 12th century and then rebuilt between the 13th and 15th centuries, the Château de Castelnaud has witnessed the significant moments of the Hundred Years' War.
Once a French and English fortress in turns, it still overlooks the Dordogne valley today and houses one of the most important European museums dedicated to the art of war in the Middle Ages.

A Dive into the Life of Lords and Knights
Ranked among the must-see places in Dordogne, the castle invites visitors to discover medieval daily life in all its forms. With Living in the Time of Lords, both young and old explore a fortified castle through the 5 senses to better understand the lives of its inhabitants.
