Starting this Saturday, two new footbridges will allow pedestrians and cyclists to access the beautiful Ramier Island. The Anita Conti and Robert Poujade footbridges are not only practical, they are also a true visual spectacle. These two cable-stayed structures span 150 meters above the Garonne, without any support, offering an elegant and secure crossing. Reserved for pedestrians, cyclists, and people with reduced mobility, they make it easier to access Ramier Island from neighboring districts and public transportation networks. On one side, the Robert Poujade footbridge connects the island to the Croix-de-Pierre and Saint-Cyprien districts, as well as to the tramway on Avenue de Muret. On the other hand, the Anita Conti footbridge connects to the Empalot, Niel, and Saint-Agne districts, providing direct access to metro line B and bus Lineo 4. These 5-meter wide structures have separate lanes for pedestrians and cyclists, ensuring a smooth and safe journey for everyone.

A new green lung in the heart of Toulouse

The "Grand Parc Garonne" project is not limited to these footbridges. Toulouse Métropole has committed to redesigning the entire site, transforming the former parking lots of the exhibition park into a true green oasis. This initiative aims to offer the people of Toulouse a space to relax, stroll, and enjoy nature right in the heart of the city.

"The integration of these footbridges into the landscape and their environment, as well as the respect for the tree heritage, have been a major focus in the design of these two large cable-stayed structures," explains Toulouse Métropole. And this is just the beginning: two more footbridges are planned beyond 2026 for even more connectivity and greenery.
