One step closer to a dog-friendly city

Several opposition political parties have recently expressed their desire to see large dogs allowed on public transportation in Toulouse. This request is supported by a citizen petition that has already gathered over 1,100 signatures. Currently, only small dogs, guide dogs for the blind, and assistance dogs for individuals with reduced mobility are allowed on buses and metros of the Tisséo network.

The Toulouse metro could soon add a new feature to its list of accomplishments. Allowing large dogs on public transport would make life easier for the many dog owners in the city, who are sometimes forced to use their cars due to a lack of suitable solutions for their four-legged companions. In Bordeaux and Strasbourg, this measure is already in place and could inspire Toulouse to follow suit.

A study currently underway

Tisséo, the organization responsible forPublic transportation in Toulouse has launched a study to assess the risks and impacts of this potential new rule. The results of this study will determine if large dogs will soon be able to take the bus or metro alongside their owners. This initiative aims to encourage the use of sustainable transportation and make the city more accessible to all its residents, including those with four legs. If this proposal is approved, the city's 50,000 dogs could soon enjoy the freedom to travel on public transport, just like their owners. Beyond making life easier for dog owners, this decision would enhance Toulouse's reputation as a welcoming and inclusive city. 🐾 Source: [GIPHY](https://giphy.com/gifs/woof-poof-caniche-jObJXCD1WsQkkIuf2E)
