Europabad

This enormous indoor pool located in Karlsruhe has everything to keep you entertained all day long. A true aquatic center, Europabad offers indoor and outdoor pools, as well as several more or less daring slides. The latest addition is the Green Viper slide, which features visual and sound effects, and even takes your picture while you're freaking out. There's also the Aquarocket, where a trapdoor opens beneath our feet and a 14-meter free fall awaits us. A certain idea of hell. In addition to its four thrilling slides, Europabad also offers a sauna, a spa, a solarium, and even dining options.

ZKM

Located in a former ammunition factory, the Center for Art and Media Technology in Karlsruhe is an institution that offers various exhibitions throughout the year, both temporary and themed, in its two museums (Media Museum and Museum of Contemporary Art). It's a way to immerse yourself in scientific and artistic research around technologies like computers or phones, before visiting more traditional temporary exhibitions from collections. A cool and large museum located just an hour's drive from Strasbourg.

The Caracalla Baths

The Caracalla Baths are a haven of peace and the perfect place to recharge for a few hours. The best time to go is in winter: what could be more pleasant than relaxing in the hot water outside when the temperatures are near zero? We recommend going in the evening for an even more magical experience – the baths are open until 10 pm every day. There are also small cabins with saunas scattered outside. A change of scenery guaranteed just 50 minutes by car from Strasbourg.

Europa Park

The largest theme park in Europe has been voted the best amusement park in the world for the fourth time, just like that. And lucky for us, it's only a short distance from Strasbourg. In fact, the best time to visit is about to start: around Halloween, the park in Rust turns into a real horror experience. Pumpkins, specially installed thrill rides for the occasion, and chainsaw-wielding zombies take over the park for your cardiovascular delight. For the bravest, the park opens in the evening and some attractions turn into vampire nightclubs and zombies chase visitors throughout the park. If you have a weak heart, it's best to stay away (really).

Shopping in Karlsruhe

This large German city of about 310,000 inhabitants is located just twenty kilometers from Alsace and about an hour's drive from Strasbourg, making it a preferred destination for us. We go there especially for shopping: a main street full of shops runs through the city, and we gladly visit the Ettlinger Tor shopping center (where we can also use the parking), the Planet Sport store in the same area, or the Blue Tomato Shop. It's a way to go shopping in a different place, for once.
