For the past few months, a small distillery has settled in the Neuhof neighborhood: the distillery of Strasbourg.
Arnaud, Chloé, and Nicolas - the 4th is Julien, who was absent during our visit!
It's the story of 4 friends, which starts like many others: around a meal and a few drinks. All 4 of them spirit enthusiasts, they made a simple observation: why not drink, like our local craft beers from microbreweries in Strasbourg, a 100% local gin in which we know the ingredients and the origin?! Spirit drinks are not legally required to mention the ingredients on their labels, so we ultimately know little about what we are drinking.
Since that evening in January 2019, Arnaud, Chloé, Nicolas, and Julien have made good progress: after training and experiments, they are now established in their micro-distillery in Neuhof.
For their gin, they use only local and responsible products. Their recipe was developed with plants from the Jardins de la Montagne Verte: instead of starting with a preconceived idea of the flavors they wanted by sourcing ingredients far from Strasbourg, they began with the plants available nearby and after many trials, they found their perfect recipe (tasted and approved)!
From the still made just a few kilometers from Strasbourg by the family business Müller, to the label designed by AnK von Annika, a tattoo artist from Strasbourg, to the bottles and label printing from Haut-Rhin, the entire product was designed with a short supply chain in mind!
Anyway, you'll understand, it's hard to get closer than that!
