Every year, the competition is fierce to rank among the best high schools in France. With a graduation rate that's sky-high – 96.1% in general streams and 90.3% in tech streams – it's becoming quite challenging to distinguish the schools based solely on this criterion. That's why other factors are taken into account: the ability of a school to help its students progress, the rate of honors, and the support provided to high schoolers from sophomore to senior year.

A Strasbourg High School among the French Elite

Based on figures from the Ministry of National Education, Le Parisien has revealed its ranking of the best high schools for 2025. This year, a high school in Strasbourg clearly stands out as part of the elite!

ute;the game by securing the 6th position in the national ranking. This is the Lycée général des Pontonniers International Sections (in the public sector) with an impressive score of 16.14. The Strasbourg establishment is also the only non-Parisian representative in the national top 8.

A ranking dominated by Parisian establishments

At the top of the podium, the Lycée polyvalent International de l’Est Parisien (Noisy-le-Grand, public sector) takes the prize with a general score of 16.59. It is followed by Lycée général Condorcet (Paris 9th, 16.32) and the prestigious Lycée Henri IV (Paris 5th, 16.31). Notably, the top 10 high schools in the national ranking are all public, demonstrating that these excellent institutions compete with the great private establishments.

To establish this ranking of the best high schools, Le Parisien implemented a rigorous methodology, assigning each establishment a score out of 20 based on various criteria.

;key factors. The excellence of the results is at the heart of the evaluation: the teams analyzed the passing rate for the baccalauréat, the percentage of honors and the added value indicators, which measure a high school's ability to help its students progress, regardless of their starting level.

But a good high school is more than just its numbers. Le Parisien also took into account, to a lesser extent, the social diversity of the students, highlighting institutions that promote diversity, as well as the number of specialties offered, to provide a wide range of choices for high school students.
