This figure of 97% may seem very high, but in reality, it's not that much. It's a bit like if you had gotten a 19 on a test, where the vast majority of the class got an 18.5. Let us explain. The study was conducted on a panel of 700 Strasbourg residents (which, incidentally, is quite small proportionally to the city's population). And it's on these 700 residents that 97% said they appreciate the quality of life in Strasbourg.
The overall European average, on the other hand, is 89%, with the residents of Copenhagen who reportedly responded at 98% with a resounding "yes." And if we compare with French cities, the people of Rennes and Bordeaux respectively responded favorably at 96.9% and 92.9%.
The evaluated domains
Among the domains evaluated to achieve this satisfactory quality of life score: health (which the people of Strasbourg rate positively at 86%), finances (which Strasbourg residents still qualify as fair at 74% while the European average stands at 72%), culture, family living environment but also cleanliness, security, access to sports facilities and culture. A questionnaire that elected officials would do well to consult to improve what can be improved.
