The Grand-Est Mondial Air Ballons, affectionately nicknamed #GEMAB, is the largest balloon gathering in the world. Every two years, for 10 days, this event brings together young and old, united by their shared passion. But this year, the sky over the Chambley Aerodrome won't be filled with dozens of floating colors. Although it was initially set to take place, the festival will ultimately be canceled.

A new owner who doesn't want to continue the festival

The reason was explained in detail on the official event website by the longtime organizer: "Unfortunately, the potential buyer, the ABC group, has announced through the press that they do not plan to acquire GEMAB. Their intention now is to create an annual event modeled on GEMAB… but with a different name.

However, for several months, I worked with them and their team to help them understand how to organize a global event where pilots from around the world are the real stars. In 30 years, this event had become the must-attend gathering of the hot air ballooning world. A key player in promoting the Grand Est and Lorraine, generating numerous economic benefits.
