Forget the classic sound and light show: this summer, Strasbourg is thinking big… and green. Starting July 5th, the Château Square will swap its stone attire for a plant-based and sensory outfit with “Der Wald / La forêt / The forest”, according to information from Actu Strasbourg. Imagined by the Eventeam agency, this extraordinary set-up will create a mini-forest right in the city center, at the foot of the majestic cathedral. Six stylized trees will stand proudly on the esplanade, echoing the verticality of the Gothic monument. Three of them will whisper stories into the ears of visitors, surrounded by an enchanting atmosphere of rustling leaves and captivating musical layers. Yes, in Strasbourg, even the trees have tales to tell.
Animations every weekend this summer
The setup isn't just for admiring! Every weekend, the square buzzes with well-organized gatherings: early morning yoga for early risers, dance classes, family activities, concerts, and even clubbing sessions on Friday nights. All of this revolves around a giant round stage, resembling a tree trunk, made available for local associations to showcase Strasbourg’s vibrant creativity. It's all about transforming the spot into a lively forest, filled with real artistic energy!
While some may grumble at the idea of a Parisian agency being behind the concept, the City assures us: local providers, artisans, and associations are definitely involved. And for those who swear by traditional video mapping, there's no need to worry: the rose window of the cathedral will also get its own light show.
