The hike, about 10 kilometers long, has a positive elevation gain of 450 meters. Plan for about 3 hours of walking, including breaks, to fully enjoy the experience. Your journey begins in Klingenthal, a charming village nestled at the foot of Mont Sainte-Odile. From the first steps, you will enter a lush forest. As you ascend, the village fades away, revealing a dreamy panorama of the Alsace plain!

The 17-meter high Mundel Tower

After about two hours of peaceful walking, you will reach the highlight of the show: the Heidenkopf tower! Built in pink sandstone, it stands proudly, like a lighthouse in the night. If you still have some strength in your legs (I hope you do), you can climb its sixty steps to admire a breathtaking 360-degree view of the Lower Rhine, the Black Forest, and the surroundings. A tower so high, it undoubtedly reminds us of the tower where Princess Rapunzel was held captive for all those years. Who knows, maybe a charming prince will come to set you free too. In the meantime, a little advice: don't cut your hair anymore from now on!

A Gentle Return Through the Forest

Well, Rapunzel's tower is lovely, but it's time to head back home! Don't worry, we'll show you the way back too: for the return journey, you'll need to retrace your steps a bit, just follow the path marked by a yellow circle. You'll then be led to cross different paths and clearings that will allow you to discover new landscapes and fully enjoy the beauty of the Vosges mountains…

Hurry up and put on your walking shoes, your prince is probably waiting for you!
