Strasbourg stomachs are about to embark on a delicious journey... Since the end of 2022, a new mouthwatering address has been established in Strasbourg, specifically in the Krutenau neighborhood. And we're talking about an exotic spot because it's a Japanese pastry shop that goes by the sweet name of Usagiya. Leading the way is Charlotte Caspar, an Alsatian who is passionate about Japanese culture and spent 10 years in Tokyo honing her skills in local pastry making.

After several years of exploring prestigious houses, Charlotte decides to live her dream and fly to the capital of Japan. There, she concocts ancestral pastries to the point that she even attracts local media attention. In 2019, she returns to France and decides to dive into the deep end during successive lockdowns. Her idea: promote the desserts of this country she loves so much.

Culinary journey to the land of mochi and anko

At Usagiya, you will find one of the greatest specialties of the Land of the Rising Sun: mochi, a preparation made from glutinous rice shaped into balls. A marvel prepared with certain ingredients and machines directly from Japan and based on recipes written in a Japanese notebook. It doesn't get more authentic than that.

The address also offers other local culinary specialties: anko, a paste made from boiled and mashed beans, sweetened with sugar or honey and then enclosed in two pancakes. Yes, it's mouthwatering...
