Seven Totem Rooms and 1,800 Specimens
The charm of the old still lingers: creaky parquet floors, wooden display cases, a cozy atmosphere reminiscent of Jean Hermann's natural history cabinet. But this time, the experience is clearer and more immersive. Gone are the labyrinthine rooms and overcrowded displays, welcome to a clear pathway that showcases nearly 1,800 specimens. The bird gallery with its 600 residents impresses just as much as the seven "totem" rooms, featuring a gorilla, a crocodile, and a walrus.
Beyond just contemplation, the museum aims to provoke thought. With its temporary and semi-permanent exhibitions, it tackles pressing topics such as the impact of humanity on the environment, the role of insects, and scientific advancements.
