At the beginning of December, a breeze from Japan swept through downtown Strasbourg. The newly established Kimono Academy boutique offers kimonos like no other. Rie Nanjo, the creator of this enchanting place, has carefully selected each piece as explained by Actu Strasbourg.

The kimonos displayed here come straight from Japanese auctions, mainly in Kyoto and Osaka, two cities close to Rie's roots. Whether you're looking for silk, wool, bold patterns, or even more subtle designs, Kimono Academy is filled with little treasures that you’re sure to love!
Some models are over 100 years old!
And because Rie is an artist at heart, she didn’t stop at clothing. The shop also offers dishware, decorations, and even shimenawa, those beautiful floral ornaments typical of the Japanese New Year. And fun fact: these shimenawa are handmade by Rie herself!

The shop, tucked away at the end of Lentilles Street, is currently temporary. Rented for the holiday season, it could very well become a permanent fixture if the trial goes well. Fingers crossed!
