The Editor

Every year, from Friday, November 28 to Sunday, December 21, 2025, Kaysersberg dresses up in gold, fir trees, and spices to welcome its Christmas market, set up around the Sainte-Croix church and in the courtyard of the Arsenal. It almost feels like the village is just waiting for this to come alive, like a medieval scene that’s been paused all year and suddenly lit up. Behind the stalls, the ruins of the medieval castle stand silently, a presence that adds even more charm to the already very “living postcard” atmosphere. In the evening, when the lights come on and the windows are adorned with fir branches, it’s simple: everyone slows down. We stroll, we listen, we breathe in the winter.

An artisanal market like no other

What makes Kaysersberg unique is its dedication to local craftsmanship, demanding and carefully selected. No plastic gadgets here: only handmade, authentic items. In the thirty wooden chalets, you’ll find wooden toys, beautifully crafted pottery, delicate blown glass creations, and objects from around the world: Japanese origami or Russian crafts, showing that craftsmanship can be diverse without losing its soul. And then there’s the farmer's market, often a bit tucked away but always a must-visit: valley cheeses, generous charcuterie, dried fruits, nuts, artisanal syrups… a true gourmet getaway that smells of fireplaces and local heritage.

Christmas Flavors That Warm the Heart

You can’t talk about Kaysersberg without mentioning its delightful treats. Here, temptation lurks around every corner: anise or hazelnut bredeles, sweet kougelhopfs, beraweckas with their dried fruit aromas, golden manalas still warm...We indulge, we taste, we go back for more; it’s almost a tradition. And with a spiced mulled wine or a hot chocolate in hand, the village feels different.

Unlike Strasbourg or Colmar, which can sometimes be overwhelmed by their popularity, Kaysersberg boasts a more peaceful atmosphere. Its streets are narrow, its market cozy, and the limited capacity creates a special feeling, almost as if each visitor has been personally invited by the locals.

Weekends pass gently:
