Just an hour's drive from Strasbourg, Mundenhof Park is a true little gem of nature and biodiversity. Located near Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, this 38-hectare park checks all the boxes for a feel-good family getaway: plenty of space, lush greenery, animals galore, and… zero entry fee. Yes, you read that right: it's completely free, as confirmed by Actu Strasbourg. No need to sell a kidney to spend a day in the great outdoors.

Here, you can travel from one continent to another without moving your sneakers. The park is organized by geographical areas: Europe, Africa, Asia, North and South America. The result? You go from Peruvian llamas to African meerkats, from guinea pigs to majestic buffaloes without having to cross an airport. Kids love it, adults do too, and everyone leaves with stars in their eyes.

Animals from all over the world, no passport needed

In addition to the animals, the park focuses on a true relaxation vibe. Play areas for the little ones, picnic spots for large gatherings, an aquarium to extend your visit in underwater mode… it’s the kind of place where you can easily spend the whole day without noticing the time passing. Add to that the shade of the trees, the tree-lined paths, and the lack of crowdedness...relaxing : the perfect combo to unwind.

Entry is free, but parking costs €10 from April to August. A small price to help maintain the place, and honestly, considering the quality of the experience, it's more of a support than a barrier. The park largely operates thanks to this participation.volunteer, so let's go in "slow tourism" mode and support a place that does things right.
