At the head of this adorable establishment: Elodie and Benjamin. She, the front desk manager, he, the pastry chef, they met when they both worked at the Sofitel in Strasbourg. After professional experiences in other big hotels in different cities, exotic travels, and a baby later, here they are back in their beloved city: Strasbourg!
After a good year of building the project, it is in November 2019 that they settle down at 11 rue des Bouchers (replacing Mémé in Austria).
Gourmet Café
This is the perfect place for a breakfast or snack: they have good coffees (Omnino & Mokxa) and pastries that are clearly to die for! In the display case, six gems that make us drool, so we tried the Hazelnut (crispy cream puff, hazelnut heart and crumble, praline cream) and the Cheesecake (diamond shortbread, white chocolate cheese cream lime, and fresh exotic fruits) and scoop: it's amazing!
You can also find cakes by the slice and sweet treats like financiers, pastries, or cookies. At lunchtime, you can enjoy toast, salads, and soups!
On Saturdays starting at 11 am, it's brunch time with unlimited hot drinks, a fruit juice, a pastry or homemade granola yogurt, or French toast. On the savory side, you can choose between a guacamole toast with poached egg and bacon, egg cocotte with the cream of the moment, or veggie toast with homemade hummus. And don't forget to finish with one of the famous pastries from the display! All for 20 euros.
Benjamin also creates custom cakes made to order for special occasions or events (or just because you feel like treating yourself)!
Amidst all these delicious delights, Uncle Cake has thought of everyone's special dietary needs and offers vegan and gluten-free options!
The place and the welcome are warm! The two lovers decorated it themselves, we love the bench area where we could stay for hours! But if you're in a hurry, you can also get takeout!
