The story of 6717 Nature Hotel & Spa began in 1986 when Désiré Schaetzel acquired the Convent of the Benedictine Sisters from the Netherlands to transform it into a charming 4-star hotel, Le Clos des Délices. The establishment opened its doors on May 1, 1988, offering 21 rooms and a relaxation area with a heated indoor pool, sauna, outdoor jacuzzi, and a treatment room. In 2021, after years of research and inspiration across Europe, Mr. Schaetzel embarked on an ambitious project: the extension and creation of the 6717 Nature Hotel & Spa, inaugurated on July 16, 2021 with the goal of achieving 5 stars.

Stretching over a 6-hectare estate, the 6717 Nature Hôtel & Spa offers a unique experience, combining elegance and nature for a total immersion in the heart of the Alsatian nature. With 35 exceptional rooms, including 15 spacious suites ranging from 42 to 90 m², some equipped with a private spa, the hotel offers luxurious comfort and a minimalist decoration using natural materials.

A true haven of well-being equipped with an indoor pool, a hot tub, thermo-ludic activities, and a Pool Garden Spa with an outdoor pool and a rooftop jacuzzi, the spa promises an unmatched sensory escape. The sauna, the sanarium with panoramic views of the surrounding nature, the hammam, fitness room, salt cave, snow cave, yoga room, and the full range of massages and body treatments at the "L'Éveil des Sens" spa all contribute to an unforgettable well-being experience.
Refined restaurant and various activities
The Table du 6717, led by Audrey Stippich and Regis Dell, is the gastronomic jewel of the establishment. Offering a creative cuisine, respectful of nature and guided by the seasons, the restaurant provides an exceptional culinary experience. The dining service is led by Silvere Thouret and Benjamin Mautemps. With a cellar rich in over 250 references, food and wine pairings are skillfully orchestrated for the delight of gourmets. The Le Garden restaurant, with its bright rooms and shaded terrace, welcomes diners in an enchanting setting.
Guests at 6717 can also explore the surroundings through a variety of activities. Renting electric bikes allows visitors to explore the Porte du Bonheur cycling path, the picturesque Wine Route, and the surrounding forests. Nature lovers will enjoy the numerous hikes starting from the property, offering scenic trails through vineyards and woods. A 4.4 km health trail around Obernai is accessible by foot or bike, providing a variety of options for outdoor enthusiasts.
A Brighter Future Ahead
In 2025, the Schaetzel couple is planning renovation work for the Maison Blanche building. Their ambitious projects are already bearing fruit, with the 6717 having been awarded the Jury's Favorite Award at the 2022 Villégiature Awards and being among the finalists for the Best Hotel & Wellness and Best Hotel Suite worldwide.
