For four days, from October 17 to 20, 2023, pairs of nursing students from the Guillaume-Régnier hospital gathered data all around the city. They set up in 50 different locations such as libraries, community centers, universities, and even fast-food restaurants, to interview 866 adults using a detailed questionnaire.
This diverse approach aimed to provide an accurate picture of the Rennes population and their mental health concerns.
Alarming but Revealing Numbers
The increase in the number of Rennes residents reporting mental health issues highlights a worsening situation. Several factors might explain this trend:

The study is part of a national framework aimed at identifying and addressing mental health needs in France. For Rennes, this survey highlights the urgent need to improve access to psychological care and to strengthen prevention efforts.
