The consequences are already here: lower river levels, exceptionally dry soils, and early water reservoir drawdown to ensure drinking water supply. All this while the temperature is set to rise above 30°C in the coming days.
The department is on alert, what does this mean?
The alert status corresponds to the first level of managing drought (before alert, reinforced alert, and crisis). It doesn’t yet impose mandatory restrictions, but it strongly encourages responsible actions.
Thus, the prefecture is calling on all users, including individuals, communities, farmers, and businesses, to reduce their water consumption, regardless of its source (public network, boreholes, extractions from rivers...).

Protecting the resource before it's too late
“The situation isn't critical at this stage, but it remains concerning,” specifies the prefecture. The Water Management Committee, which met in early June, unanimously recommended this alert. In light of this reality, everyone can take action: avoid watering during the hottest part of the day, reduce car washing frequency, opt for short showers, or postpone filling up pools.
Where to get information?
To keep track of the situation and learn about recommendations or restrictions in each municipality, a dedicated tool is available right here: VIGIEAU.
As summer is just starting, the message is clear: conserving water is becoming a priority for everyone!
