One thing is for sure, the excitement is huge! The 120 race numbers for this one-of-a-kind event sold out in just 48 hours. That’s a record that confirms the Slip Run has become a must-attend gathering in the sporty and festive scene of Rennes.
A Joke Turned Tradition
Originally, the idea was simple, even absurd: to create a race where participants run in their underwear. A successful bet, as three years after its inception, the Slip Run has become an eagerly awaited event, both for participants and spectators.
Here, the atmosphere feels more like a giant fair than a sports competition. On a 3 km loop, runners, often in costume, keep the pace going under the guidance of “Slipman,” a charismatic host who gets the crowd dancing before the start. Laughter, irony, and friendliness are the key words of this evening where the goal is to have fun above all else.
A National Spotlight
What was supposed to be just a little village animation has...quickly gained momentum. Videos and photos from previous editions have spread across social media, catching attention far beyond Ille-et-Vilaine. As a result, the Slip Run has given national visibility to the La Belle d’Orgères trail, organized on the same weekend.
Because yes, alongside the slip race, there’s also some seriousness. Seven different events are scheduled over two days, including a 26 km loop for the more seasoned runners. And once again, the success is there, out of 1,300 available bibs, half are already gone.
More than a race, a celebration
If the Slip Run attracts so many, it's because it symbolizes a mindset—running for fun, without pressure or timing, and definitely not taking oneself too seriously. Add to that a good dose of music, outrageous costumes, and you get an explosive cocktail that charms new participants every year.
So, shall we meet up in our slips?
