The Editor

Every year, Pommery invites you 30 meters underground for a brand new contemporary art exhibition. An unusual journey into the heart of the caves and the park of the Pommery House, a must-do for any getaway to Reims.

The art of opening champagne cellars: the Pommery heritage

Built in 1868 and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Pommery estate is an unmissable stop on the Champagne cellar tour. With its 18 kilometers of galleries and its monumental staircase of 116 steps, you dive straight into the history of the House. It was Madame Pommery herself (Queen) who transformed ancient Gallo-Roman underground quarries into cellars and decided to open them to the public. And hold onto your hats: they can hold up to 25 million bottles!

#Experiences Pommery: when art comes underground

In this spirit of openness, the Pommery House has been showcasing contemporary art in its cellars and park for over 20 years. Simply called “#Experience,” these annual exhibitions truly live up to their name: they enhance the visit and push the boundaries of creativity. More than 400 artists have already taken on the challenge of displaying their works in this unique, dark, and humid environment.

"Melodies Underground", the 18th Pommery Experience

This year, the new exhibition at the Pommery Estate is titled "Melodies Underground", in tribute to the sounds and the effervescence that resonate in the chalk pits. It’s a poetic and immersive theme that brings enchanting tunes to the visit of the cellars.
