A day in the city of coronations to taste the Reims way of life is absolutely possible. With a mix of heritage, champagne, and gastronomy, there’s so much to explore. And at just 45 minutes by TGV from Paris, Reims is a very accessible city trip. Let’s go!

The Promenades and the Porte de Mars

Right across from the Reims train station, you’ll find the Jean-Louis Schneiter Promenades, the “Reims Central Park.” Hammocks, kiosks, playgrounds, fountains... It’s the favorite weekend spot for the locals. At the top of the Promenades, admire the Porte de Mars, an ancient relic marking the entrance to Reims during the Roman era.

A Coffee at Place du Forum

Head over to the Place du Forum to enjoy a little coffee with a view of the impressive cryptoporticus, a stunning remnant from Roman times. Take this opportunity to explore the Musée-Hôtel Le Vergeur, a historic 13th-century residence that houses a rich collection of art pieces and antique furniture.

Visit the Reims Cathedral

Mother of Reims, you can't miss the cathedral, a key site for the coronation of the kings of France. Right next door is the Palis du Tau, which hosted royal feasts after the ceremonies and is now a museum. Unfortunately, it’s closed for renovations, but we'll keep you updated on its reopening! Don’t forget to admire the Carnegie Library, a stunning Art Deco masterpiece just a short walk away.

Lunch in the City Center

For lunch, you have several options :

· Stunning view of the Cathedral, really nice but for bigger budgets.
· Around the Place du Forum, with many bistronomic spots.
· Place d'Erlon, the vibrant Reims atmosphere with its typical cafés and brasseries.

After your meal, look up to admire two Art Deco gems: the Kodak Tower and the façade of the former Opéra cinema.

.

Visit a Champagne Cellar

Head over to the Saint-Nicaise Hill, home to some of the finest champagne houses. For those feeling adventurous, you can hike there, or the city bus will take you there easily. You'll get to explore the chalk cellars and enjoy a glass of champagne. On your way back, be sure to stop by the Basilica of Saint-Remi, a gem from the 6th century.

Enjoy Your Time at Cours Jean-Baptiste Langlet

Take a delicious break at Cours Jean-Baptiste Langlet with a local specialty: the pink biscuits from Maison Fossier. Stroll through this lovely green space and why not treat yourself to a champagne sorbet?

Chill and Dine at Boulingrin

After a busy day, treat yourself to a glass of champagne at Boulingrin, a vibrant hub of Reims life. Bars, restaurants, music, and a lively atmosphere are waiting for you. If it's market day, don't miss the Halles du Boulingrin, an architectural gem.

One day is nice, but it’s a bit short! There’s still so much more to discover. Are you coming back for longer next time?
