A journey through sound: that’s the true sensation that Sonobox brings to life. Created by Césaré, the National Center for Musical Creation in Reims, this itinerant sound installation is available in Reims for free all month long in June. An intense experience to listen to sound in a whole new way, a must-try!
Sonobox, a sensational musical experience
This cabin grabs your attention from the first look. A beautiful design object and a futuristic installation, Sonobox sets the stage right away. When the door closes, you settle in alone on the unique chair present, in the dim light, facing a screen that guides you through the experience. You choose the lighting ambiance that will accompany you on this journey (complete darkness or partial dimness, depending on your comfort level), and then the musical piece you wish to play.

Ultra-perfect speakers installed on either side. In our heads, a whole imagination: music tells us a story, and we live it. When we say sensational, it’s literally the case: unheard emotions wash over you, with the feeling of being inside the sound. Amazing. The inventor of Sonobox is Philippe Gordiani, composer and director of CNCM Césaré in Reims. In this concept, everything is unprecedented: the cabin itself with its very advanced technical specifications (11 speakers...
overall), but also the works to listen to inside. A delight for music lovers, but also a real discovery for enthusiasts. It’s accessible to everyone, and we absolutely love that.
In total, four works have been created especially for the experience. Here, sound dramaturgy truly comes to life: it’s the immersive music that brings the space to life, offering four completely different universes. Philippe Gordiani himself has composed a piece, alongside Hervé Birolini, Julien Desprez, and Claudine Simon. It really makes you want to go back four times to experience them all! A game mode is also available, allowing you to interact with the music, creating a unique and participative work of art.
Two listening locations in Reims all month long in June
After a visit ærave; l’ESAD de Reims and at Saint-Ex, Sonobox will be set up at the Médiathèque Falala from June 3 to June 18, then at the Médiathèque Croix-Rouge until June 26. The cultural team from Césaré will be on-site to welcome you and guide you through this extraordinary journey, just like a crew of music on board. Reservations can be made online on the Césaré website and the experience is free. Enjoy it before Sonobox heads off to tour France, including the Festival Off d’Avignon this summer!
