The Artur Loyd ranking relies on 75 statistical indicators to analyze 50 French metropolitan areas and agglomerations. The cities are divided into 4 categories: very large metropolises (more than 1 million...of inhabitants), large metropolitan areas (500,000 to 1 million inhabitants), intermediate-sized metropolises like Reims (300,000 to 500,000 inhabitants), and medium-sized urban areas (100,000 to 300,000 inhabitants).
The tool measures the attractiveness of cities and the dynamism of territories to assess their strengths. Four themes are studied in the ranking analysis: economic vitality, commercial real estate, connectivity, human capital and transitions, and quality of life.
While large metropolises like Lyon, Bordeaux, and Montpellier stand out as references, certain criteria weigh in the balance to estimate the vitality of intermediate cities.
