The new banks along the Canal will come to life in 2026. The people of Reims have been waiting for this for a long time and are sure not to be disappointed…
Reviving the Reims Riverbanks
Led by the city of Reims and the Grand Reims urban community, the redevelopment of the banks aims to revitalize the canal's banks, which have long been neglected. Reims is joining cities that are transforming their shores and waterways into a lively space. It may not be as grand as Paris Plage, but it’s already a good start! For a little sneak peek, residents can already try the experience of a ride on a Boboat!
An Aquatic Garden for a Nature Break
Another major feature of the redevelopment project: a water garden designed as a green oasis in the heart of the city. With water plants, ...Relaxation areas and wooden walkways, this future green gem will be perfect for a stroll or a picnic by the water. Reims proudly upholds its reputation as a green city !
Barges for sipping by the water
The big news for these future banks? Terraces with feet in the water featuring several barges transformed into bars and restaurants. A project inspired by the guinguette spirit of the Seine quays in Paris and Lyon.
Voies Navigables de France (VNF) has even launched a call for projects to install these barges. Two strategic locations of 400 m² are offered, on Boulevard Paul Doumer on the right bank of the canal.
