In Picardy, in the Aisne region, the village of Parfondeval and its 140 residents have been welcoming visitors for several decades to discover its unique architecture and historic monuments. The village also has a quirky characteristic: a pond right in the center!

A historic and authentic stroll

With its Renaissance architecture and buildings made of red bricks and slate, Parfondeval instantly transports you to another world. Here, you can spot historic monuments like the remarkable fortified church of Saint-Médard with its two turrets, built in the 16th century, as well as the Protestant temple from the 19th century and the village washhouse.

This little heritage break combines with the magic of authentic countryside walks: the agricultural world has also shaped the village, dotted with fields of corn, orchards, apple trees, and pastures. The highlight of the show: The square is definitely the heart of the village.

What to do in Parfondeval?

Perfect little getaway for a weekend, easy and super accessible escape from Reims, enjoy Parfondeval to admire the historical monuments that you can discover through the circuit.de la Chouette, a 1-hour adventure to explore the village in an interactive way using its app.

For food, you have two options: the Relais de la Chouette, an authentic traditional restaurant where local specialties are on the menu. And when the weather is nice, feel free to bring your picnic and enjoy lunch by the pond in the center of the village (accompanied by the singing of frogs!).

And every first Saturday of the month, there's the local market featuring local producers. You'll find organic vegetables, cheese, terrines, jams, as well as beers and cider.
