Do you dream of becoming a homeowner but feel scared off by the prices of Parisian apartments? That's totally understandable! With an average price of 9530€ per square meter, we'd be the first to run screaming too. But guess what? Owning a property may not be as far out of reach as you think. You just have to be ready to leave France and travel... a bit further north!

An unbeatable price

Head to Scotland, and more specifically to a small island called Eilean Mòr. This lovely island has been on the market for several months. Initially listed by Bell Ingram for £325,000, which is just over 375,300€, its price has recently dropped to £275,000, which is about €317,600.

You’re probably wondering an important question: what is the area you get for that amount? 12 hectares of land, that’s what! For the same price in Paris, you could get a studio or a small one-bedroom of a maximum of 35 square meters. Definitely something to think about!

An Island in the Middle of Nowhere

On paper, the idea sounds dreamy! But you have to be ready to make a few compromises and enjoy living self-sufficiently, since the island is completely uninhabited. Eilean Mòr is located at the entrance of Loch Sunart, in the northwest of Scotland's Highlands. To keep it simple, it is only accessible by private boat.

Another thing to consider: to protect the unique wildlife and flora of the island, no building permits are granted. So, future buyers should ideally be fans of nature, adventure, and camping
