Here’s some news that took us by surprise! In just a few weeks, the singer Katy Perry will embark on an absolutely wild experience: heading to space. This exciting announcement was made by Blue Origin, Jeff Bezos's company, in a statement. The American singer will be joined by several women for this NS-31 flight, the 11th of New Shepard, featuring exclusively female personalities on board. It’s a first since 1963, when Valentina Tereshkova traveled to space solo.

Aisha Bowe, a former NASA scientist, Amanda Nguyen, a scientific researcher, and Kerianne Flynn, a film producer, will also be part of the journey. “I’m excited that all the women on the crew will share their stories and inspire future generations to dream big,” said Lauren Sánchez to USA Today.

The spacecraft will be entirely autonomous: “Every person on board is a crew member; there are no pilots,” Blue Origin told the American media. This flight comes as a kind of space race unfolds between the companies of Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk. It will be the 11th human flight of the New Shepard program, which has already taken 52 people above the line of...
