(Le saviez-vous?) Inaugurée en 1912, Abbesses est la station de métro la plus profonde de Paris, 36 m au dessous du sol, un record de taille pic.twitter.com/atmnz5u3GP

Make way for the "Saint-Maur-Créteil"!
With its 176 steps from hell, nobody could have ever thought that the mythical and sporty Abbesses station would one day lose its title as the deepest station in the capital. And yet, all good things must come to an end, and the station will soon have to settle for the silver medal. Not because the tracks will be raised to get closer to the surface of the earth, but because Paris and its surroundings will soon have the pleasure of seeing a station appear very soon (or almost, since the train is scheduled to start running in 2026) even closer to the Earth's core. This new station will not only be the deepest in Paris, but the deepest in all of France!
C'est pire une épreuve digne des plus grands de gravir toutes les marches de la station Abbesses

Oh boy, can you believe that the new Saint-Maur-Créteil station, where the cool line 15 metro will stop, is gonna be a whopping 52 meters below ground? We won't even mention the crazy amount of stairs you'd have to climb if all 11 elevators magically stopped working at once. But hey, good news - despite being super deep down near the earth's core (where it's hot!), we can guarantee that the temperature in the station will be totally comfy. Phew!
