You had to think about it, and Destock Colis did it. The store located in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés since January 3rd has embarked on a rather unique recycling/clearance operation. To attract us into their clutches, they rely on the power of mystery and our addiction to impulse buying, by selling lost or unclaimed packages for a ridiculously low price. The key is to rely on luck to stumble upon a gem that will be worth 10 times the price of your purchase, even though you have a greater chance of ending up with a cheap $2 t-shirt.
Abandoned packages sold by the kilo
The concept is simple : blindly choose a package that catches your eye. We weigh it to determine its price in a range of €5 to €20 for packages under 10 kilos. Beyond that, it's €16 per kilo. So, for those who like to play it safe, it's time to let loose and play without any hesitation.
On a slight misunderstanding, you might come across a stylish smartphone or some fancy home appliances. Everything is touch-controlled, so you can handle the package without opening it. After that, all you have to do is hope really, really hard.Voir cette publication sur Instagram
But where does the stuff come from?
The lost packages come from Amazon, but also from carriers like DHL. Indeed, since the anti-waste law of January 1st, 2022, there is no more question of throwing away new items, everything gets recycled, or rather, sold at a bargain ! Even though the game pushes us to consume a bit, let's look at the bright side : it gives us a good reason to enjoy ourselves and if the items are not useful to us, we can always resell them or, this time, donate them to an association. In the end, is everyone happy ?
Proof in hand, when it opened, the warehouse was packed with about 3 tons of orphaned small packages. Today, more than half of the stock has been adopted for a total sum of 10,000 euros. The company plans to expand to other places in Île-de-France, in pop-up shops for flash sales, to stand out.Dear reader,
