In recent months, the Grévin Museum has been making headlines. For instance, by introducing the statue of Stéphane Plaza, who has been accused of domestic violence by several ex-partners, or by adding statues of national celebrities, like Astérix and Obélix, Léna Situation, and very recently, Vianney. However, it’s probably the first time that people are talking about this institution inspired by the famous Madame Tussaud in London for such a unique piece of news.
A smoothly run operation
The events unfolded…
On Monday, June 2nd, while the capital is still full of hope, joy, and good intentions after the historic victory of PSG on Saturday night. A state of general bliss, which some have clearly decided to take advantage of to carry out their sinister plans.🇫🇷🗿 FLASH | La statue d’Emmanuel Macron au musée Grévin a été volée par un militant de Greenpeace. In the morning, a group of 2 women and one man posing as tourists entered the heart of the museum, blending in with the crowd of regular visitors. Once inside, they changed their appearance to pretend to be artisans or employees of the institution. Camouflaged this way, they were able to access the room of heads of state and take the statue, which they made exit through a fire exit, hidden under a sheet.
Quite a Catch
Although, for now, none of the three suspects have been apprehended, it is known that they are activists from the Greenpeace association, as reported by AFP after consulting a police source.Right now, the reasons for this extremely surprising theft have not yet been unveiled, but the damages are considerable, as the value of the double wax figure of our President is estimated to be 40,000 euros. One can imagine the buzz and commotion at the museum in the 9th, which is currently losing one of its most iconic figures. Stay tuned for updates!
