Frequently, the French lottery shares some statistics about its Loto draws. Of course, you’ll always have the same chances of winning, no matter which numbers you pick on your ticket. But hey, it’s nice to let your imagination run wild!

First, let’s refresh your memory

Lotto, as everyone knows, is a game of chance. To play, all you need to do is buy a ticket for €2.20 at a tobacco shop or online, fill it out, and wait for the results. To fill out your ticket, you need to choose 5 numbers between 1 and 49 and a lucky number between 1 and 10.

The draw happens 3 times a week, and after that, three scenarios are possible. The first is loss: you lost, you’re out of luck, and your number choices weren’t the best. The second is a semi-victory: you found a few numbers, but not all, and gso you have some money now. Don’t brag too much, you just paid off your ticket. The third prize is the absolute victory: you’ve found ALL the numbers and the lucky number. You’re handsome, you’re strong, and most importantly, you’re very rich. Congratulations.

So, what should we put on this grid?

You might be tempted, like everyone else, to tick off the boxes for your mother's birthday on that pesky grid, or… you could finally join the side of the winners!

According to a study by FDJ, since July 19, 2019, the most popular numbers are 31, appearing in 11.69% of draws, 30 with 121 appearances, 24, and the 3, 5, 6, and 28 all tied with 11.21% of draws.

As for the chance numbers, it's the 9 that pops up the most often with 117 appearances, followed by 2 and 10.
