The Editor

We know that, depending on the bars and restaurants, you won't find the same dishes everywhere. The plates are round here, square there. Green on the left, turquoise on the right. At Thierry's, the knives have wooden handles, while at Michel's, they're stainless steel. These differences mainly arise from the tastes of the restaurateurs, and are often seen as trivial. But what if we told you that the choice of glassware is often made (too often?) to your detriment? Let us explain.

A few centiliters less, more money for them

In Parisian bars, 70% of the time, when you order a pint, you’ll be served in the same glass, a sleek and light design, with its slight bulge two-thirds up. But sometimes, in certain establishments, you end up with a giant cafeteria-style glass that doesn't look impressive at first glance.

Yet, thanks to the Balance ta pinte account, we now know that they are to be avoided at all costs.

But why is that, you may ask? Simply because, while they are as tall as traditional models, the thickness of the glass leads to a significant decrease in quantity, reducing the size of the container from the usual 50 cl to only... 37.5, which is 12.5 cl less. Yet, the most common... ```ent, the price, is still exactly the same! And if you don’t believe us, just take a look at the flawless test videos from Balance ta pinte.

A Collective Fight

A terrible injustice, you'll agree, that Balance ta pinte has decided to fight against by creating a website that works quite simply: when you visit a bar with “fake pints”, all you have to do is enter the name and address of the establishment on a form, and it will be pinned directly on the Insta account, with proof (meaning a photo of the bar in question and its famous pint glasses). All bars are also listed directly on the site, and of course, Everything is verified, with at least 2 testimonies for each address before a report, and a search for images on social media to support the claims.

A initiative we hope will be widely supported, and especially taken into account by the bars involved that have tried to be sneaky to make their drinks even more profitable. If this can motivate some to review their policy, we say yes. And in the meantime, the Insta account also suggests safe spots, where you can find in the capital or elsewhere in France pints that are truly worthy!
