Christmas Yule Log dripping with goodness, strawberry tart without stems, king cake particularly lacking in frangipane… Cédric Grolet, the most talked-about (and, because one goes without the other, controversial) pastry chef in the capital, regularly draws criticism when he launches new creations. What’s the fuss about? A price considered too high compared to their appearance and texture. And his new ham-butter-pickle sandwich is no exception to the trend.

If this precious dish has been in the spotlight, it’s because it was tested by food influencer Carla Sofiya. In a video posted on TikTok on November 3rd, she tries the sandwich and gives it a thumbs up, but admits that it " isn't worth its price." While many online users immediately mocked its shape—" The sandwich is the shoe of Aladdin,” jokes one—it's mainly the expensive price of the baguette that sparked outrage. "That's robbery," "The price of a meal at a restaurant is outrageous!", "For that price, I can eat for a week": there have been as many criticisms as there were raindrops in Paris last September. Here’s a curated selection of the most hilarious comments on X.
