Nursery or concert hall? Friday May 10, American star Taylor Swift performed for her second Parisian and European date within the walls of the Defense Arena, in Nanterre, gathering nearly 42,000 people... Including one in particular who was very young. Among the "Swifties" - the name given to her fans - a baby just a few months old, photographed lying on the floor of the Nanterre venue.

Published on X shortly after the concert, the photo quickly sparked outrage. From its author first, named Gina, who wrote in the description " Take your baby off the floor and go home ", and then among the 2 million internet users who saw the post. But then, what was a sleeping baby doing on the floor of the Defense Arena, noise-canceling headphones on their ears, not in a crib but on a fringed coat ?

An act deemed irresponsible

To reinforce the impact of her post, Gina posted a second photo showing the crowd of spectators in the pit, writing " They've lost their minds! Terrible parents ". In the comments, Twitter users agreed, with some explaining that babies should never be taken to concerts because "their ears are sensitive, and it could damage their hearing".The judges praised their performance ; others, more aggressive, criticized that "certain people should not be allowed to have children".

Nevertheless, the situation was quite heated, even with one fan defending the presence of a baby at the concert, explaining that "the baby was wearing noise-canceling headphones for children". "We made sure to leave a generous space around them, the whole family was there, everyone was friendly, and the parents were very attentive. The baby didn't cry even once", she stated in a testimony shared by the HuffPost.

Seats were offered to parents, but they declined

When contacted by the news site, a spokesperson for Paris La Défense Arena clarified that "the terms and conditions of sale state that all minors (without an age limit) attending a concert at Paris La Défense Arena must be accompanied by an adult. Children under 18 years old are the responsibility of their legal guardian, as per the venue's policy. In conclusion, the same source mentioned that an alternate seating arrangement was proposed to attendees with a young child, but was turned down by the ticket holders".
