Since we're such lively characters at Bonbon, last year, on April 1st, we had you believing that using your phone would soon be banned in the metro. Well, we weren't too far off the mark, because the City of Paris, in partnership with the media My Little Paris, is setting up a campaign for a mobile-free day in the capital, the first of its kind in France.

A Slightly Terrifying Dependency

In January 2024, the PRO BTP health observatory revealed an extremely alarming study. The report stated that 71% of respondents claimed they couldn't live without their phone. Even worse, among 18-39 year-olds, this figure soared to 86%! At the same time, it's not surprising when we know that...

average, a human being with a smartphone touches it « 600 to 700 times a day ».

A real addiction, almost like a « security blanket » according to experts, which means we have unfortunately become unable for instance to find our way without consulting our GPS, to spend more than 3 minutes on the metro without listening to music or scrolling through social media, in short, we have a genuine dependency that the City Hall of Paris is determined to tackle.

In Airplane Mode

To address this situation, the City Hall of Paris is partnering with My Little Paris to launch Off-Line, an innovative event in the capital, and more broadly across the country, aimed at inviting the residents of the City of Light to put their phones down for a day. The principle is simple :

turn Paris into a playground, « a notification-free playground » for 24 hours. For this special occasion, the organizers have planned a few secret activities, most of which will take place around the Solférino quay, near the Orsay Museum, in the 7th arrondissement. So, are you ready to step away from screens for a day?
